2015 Beth Fiedorek

Certain banal moments are so commonplace that they scarcely warrant notice. In this group of paintings, artist Beth Fiedorek revisits some of these moments, such as sitting poolside, performing yoga, or shaving. In her representation of these rituals, however, treatments of space and frames of reference become distorted, at times fantastically. The two most recent among these paintings, both bathroom scenes, were painted while at the Chashama North residency in Pine Plains, NY.
